Based in Sydney, Australia, Josh is a freelance musician, composer and sound designer who enjoys working in a variety of musical fields ranging from composition and sound design for film and animation to live performance to production and recording to tuition.
Josh's compositional style has been described as 'visual', 'progressive', 'evocative', 'intense', 'contemporary', 'original'.
He enjoys writing music that blends in and out of: orchestral/classical, soundtrack/instrumental, electronica/chill, progressive/instrumental rock, funk/fusion, experimental and ambient.
Under Insanely Sane, Josh has released two independent full length albums:
The debut, entitled "When Profound Is No More" is a retrospective compilation of a body of works from 2001 - 2004.
"Fractal Metaphors" is his second full length release capturing works from 2005 - 2007.
Josh is currently working on a third album, as yet untitled.
Josh has been involved as a regular keyboards player member with a variety of bands including Newtown Beats, Candella and Digital Dreaming.
Other notable professional experience:
Radio - Host for a regular 2 hour radio timeslot creating and playing original music on Sydney's contemporary and classical station 2MBS 102.5FM.
Theatre - Performing piano for the play "Broken Dreams" at Griffin Stable Theatre, Darlinghurst, Sydney.
Studio - Assistant engineer recording at Unity Gain Studios for the Matt Finish album "1978 - 2008" assisting multi award winning producer John Prior.
Live - A few notable venues Josh has performed as headline act include: The Basement, The Goethe Institute, Quay Restaurant, Perisher Ski Resort, Empire Hotel, The Rose Erskinville, UTS, The Log Cabin, and many many more..
Josh currently teaches classical, contemporary and jazz piano full time, specialising in improvisation techniques and catering to the goals of the individual. He also offers specialised composition and production tuition to help give creative people without the tools a way to bridge that gap.
